Alameda is a selected blend of our golden sour beer aged in oak barrels. Each blend of Alameda highlights a unique mix of yeast and bacteria which will differ from blend to blend.
We have been waiting for a long time to use a certain oak puncheon in our cellar as part of our Alameda series of blends. The puncheon contains a blend of a couple of our house mixed cultures and shows a lot of fresh vibrant ……… notes. At our last routine tasting the barrel was a clear stand out so we set out on making it the key component of the blend and added other puncheons as a support for any lacking elements. Alameda #4 aromatically presents fresh ripe apple, vinous notes and subtle earthy brett character. The palate is textured and soft with a touch of acid. Very different to #3 and a nice insight into the diversity of our cellar.
